Christmas 2024

Advent Sunday is the perfect moment to be writing our Christmas letter - a time of much needed hope and light, as well as lovely music.

The year has flown by and we have so much to be grateful for. Our priority has been trips south to see family and friends. We have also enjoyed two trips to Madeira - the first, in February, coincided with Carnival including a spectacular parade along the harbour front, complete with ‘samba’ accompaniment. In October we spent a weekend in Gran Canaria seeing friends en-route to Madeira. We particularly appreciate the gentle pace, warmth, familiar faces and places - direct flights from Edinburgh are a bonus.

In June we enjoyed a super river cruise on the Rhone - again the gentle pace is really appealing. Another summer highlight was to visit Highgrove - a real jewel in the crown in every respect! Well done King Charles!

Our family are all doing well; we are fortunate to see them quite regularly and we’ll all be together for Christmas: Sarah, Richard, Suzannah and Harry will stay with us and we’ll all descend on Mark, Fiona, Sam & Kadija, Ellie & Bel and Fiona’s Dad, Alasdair, for Christmas Day.

As we celebrate, our thoughts will be with the many friends who have lost loved ones this year or who cannot be with their families.
